A window track collects everything the window lets in and everything the weather brings: grit, pollen, dead insects, paint chips, and years of dust that builds up in the corners and along the frame. It’s the part of the window nearest to hand, visible every time the sash is opened, and almost always the part that gets overlooked.
And it doesn’t take long for that buildup to become noticeable. Dirt settles into corners, around hardware, and into the small drainage areas of the frame where a quick wipe simply doesn’t reach. Our track and sill detailing gets into those overlooked areas, removes the buildup, and leaves the entire window looking finished, not just the glass.

How we do it
Remove the loose debris
Loose dirt, grit, insects, and debris are removed first so we’re not turning everything into mud once the detailing begins.
Work the corners
Built-up grime collects along the edges and deep in the corners. We loosen and scrub these areas instead of simply wiping across the surface.
Detail the track & sill
The track, sill, corners, and other accessible areas are thoroughly worked and wiped clean. Accessible drainage openings are checked and cleared when needed.
Wipe down & finish
The track and sill get a final wipe-down, the sash edge is cleaned, and the entire area is checked so the finished window looks clean from glass to frame.
Things most people are never told
Weep Holes Are the Whole Point
Vinyl and aluminum windows drain through small slots at the bottom of the exterior track. Packed with debris, rainwater has nowhere to go but against the frame and inward. Clearing them is a two-minute job that prevents a genuinely expensive one.
Stiff Windows Are Usually Just Dirty
Before assuming a sash needs work, it is worth cleaning the track. A large share of windows that will not slide properly are simply full of compacted grit.
Wet Dirt Is Harder
A track that gets sprayed before it gets vacuumed turns into a paste that takes several times as long to remove. Dry first is not a preference, it is the difference between a clean track and a smeared one.
