A blocked gutter does not announce itself. Water backs up under the shingle edge, runs behind the fascia, and finds its way into soffit, siding, and eventually the foundation. By the time there is a visible stain down the side of the house or water in the basement, the repair costs many times what clearing them would have.

How we do it
Clear by hand
Debris comes out by hand into a bucket rather than being blown across your roof and yard. It is slower, it is far less mess, and it does not drive grit under the shingle edge.
Bag it and take it
Everything that comes out of the gutter leaves with us. No pile behind the garage, nothing raked into the beds.
Flush the downspouts
A clear gutter draining into a blocked downspout is still a blocked system. Each one gets run with water until it is confirmed flowing at the bottom.
Check the hardware
While we are up there we look at pitch, hangers, seams, and the fascia behind them. If something is pulling away or holding water, you get told and shown.

Why We Do Not Use Blowers
Blowing gutters out is fast and it throws wet debris and shingle grit across the roof, into the beds, and onto the windows. Hand-clearing keeps the mess in a bucket, and it is the only way to actually feel whether the gutter is pitched right.
Fall Is Not Optional Here
Under oak and maple cover, a single leaf drop can pack a gutter solid. Anything left in there over the winter freezes, and the weight of ice in a full gutter is what pulls hangers out of the fascia.
Spring Is the One People Skip
Seed pods, blossoms, and the grit that washes off shingles compact into a dense mat over the winter. It does not look like much from the ground and it stops water completely.
